RISCO PSICOSSOCIAL E DISTRESS EM CUIDADORES DE CRIANÇAS COM CÂNCER

Familiares experimentam situações desafiadoras no diagnóstico/tratamento do câncer infantojuvenil. O adoecimento pode atingir o ajustamento familiar e a adesão aos cuidados da criança/adolescente, refletindo nas rotinas e relações (familiares, conjugais, laborais e sociais). O câncer pode atingir níveis elevados de distress nos cuidadores. O objetivo desta pesquisa foi investigar as relações entre indicadores de risco psicossocial e distress em cuidadores de crianças/adolescentes com câncer. Quatorze cuidadores responderam aos instrumentos sobre: características socioeconômicas (Critério de classificação econômica Brasil [CCEB]); avaliação de risco psicossocial (Psychosocial Assessment Tool [PAT 2.0]); e distress (Termômetro do Distress). Os dados foram submetidos à análise estatística descritiva e inferencial. Verificou-se que a maioria das famílias apresentou classificação “alvo” de risco psicossocial e distress (p. ex., preocupação, nervosismo e dores). Análises inferenciais não confirmaram a hipótese de correlação entre o nível de distress e o escore total do PAT. Entretanto foram observadas correlações positivas entre domínios das escalas, como: correlação positiva entre o nível de distress e problemas com pacientes; e entre distress companheiro e problemas com irmãos, problemas dos cuidadores e reações de estresse dos cuidadores. Correlações negativas entre sintomas físicos e emocionais do distress e domínios do PAT também foram observadas. O distress dos cuidadores pode representar limitações ao tratamento, pois impacta o bem-estar emocional e o funcionamento psicossocial, especialmente, em famílias vulneráveis. Sugere-se novos estudos que considerem as características clínicas e sociodemográficas para compreender as relações entre variáveis psicossociais envolvidas. Reforça-se a necessidade da avaliação psicossocial sistemática para a assistência em oncologia pediátrica.
