TRANSTORNOS PSICOLÓGICOS ASSOCIADOS À DISFUNÇÃO TEMPOROMANDIBULA

O objetivo desse estudo foi realizar um levantamento da literatura relacionada a distúrbios psicológicos associados à disfunção temporomandibular (DTM). Método: Foram encontrados, inicialmente, 634 artigos nas bases de dados Scielo, Pub Meed e Medline. As palavras chave utilizadas na busca foram: transtornos psicológicos e DTM, estresse e DTM, depressão e DTM, ansiedade e DTM. Após a leitura do resumo desses artigos, foram selecionados 30 artigos para compor o presente estudo. A seleção desses artigos se deu em função de dois critérios - pertinência ao tema e ano da publicação. Foram selecionados os estudos publicados entre 2004 e 2014, que tratavam especificamente da relação entre DTM transtornos psicológicos. Resultados: a maioria dos estudos analisados apresentaram correlações entre transtornos psicológicos e DTM. No entanto, as metodologias utilizadas e o tipo de investigações feitas não permitem que relações causais sejam estabelecidas, ou seja, não se pode afirmar que transtornos psicológicos causam DTM ou que DTM causa transtornos psicológicos. Dentre as correlações encontradas, foi possível observar que a incidência de DTM associada a algum tipo de transtorno psicológico é maior no gênero feminino.
